With the weather getting colder and an increase in get-togethers for the holidays, there's no better time to stock up on ways to help yourself and your loved ones get some relief when you're feeling under the weather. The Medicine Ball was originally a “secret menu” Starbucks item, but the popularity of it grew so much that they added it the menu officially calling it a Honey Citrus Mint Tea. The drink combines a 50/50 mix of citrus mint green tea and peach herbal tea along with steamed lemonade, water and a bit of honey to create a comforting drink perfect for when you're sick. It's a soothing way to treat a sore throat, and while the name “Medicine Ball” might have you thinking you should only drink it when you're sick - it's a tasty treat you can enjoy any time.
The Medicine Ball is so simple to make, you can save yourself time, money and energy by making it yourself at home. Plus, who wants to leave the house when they're sick anyway? To make it even easier, we've created our very own Medicine Ball tea blend - a perfect ratio of green citrus mint tea and peach chamomile herbal tea.
Unlike when you're ordering from Starbucks, having the tea at home to make yourself allows more room for experimentation and customization. If you were to get the medicine ball, or honey citrus mint tea, from Starbucks, there's 30g of sugar in just a 16oz grande! Thankfully there's a world of possibilities when you make it at home - plus, it's way cheaper so you can have as many as your heart desires without having to worry about emptying your wallet. For a healthier alternative, we prefer to skip the lemonade and instead add a splash of lemon juice.
