Description

This is the original pure purple tea from the Nandi Hills region of Kenya. Its purple color is a result of an antioxidant known as anthocyanin, which is also found in blueberries and red cabbage. Purple tea is processed lightly like a green tea. Sweet and mildly fruity, our Purple Tea is imported fresh from the farm. Learn more about purple tea.

Not exciting

Subtle and taste the tea flavor but seems more in the bitter end.

Purple Tea

This is the pure leaf, unflavored version. I haven’t had other purple leaf tea to compare this to, but I was excited to try this type. Unfortunately, there was hardly any flavor at all for me. Maybe it has more flavor brewing gongfu style, but I did western style as directed on the bag, and it tasted very bland to me. I tried adding a bit of sugar, but that still didn’t bring out any clear notes. I appreciated that it wasn’t bitter, funky, or vegetal, but it didn’t taste like anything but similar to weak black tea to me.

4.5 stars really... rounding up... BUT, buying again! :)

I like this one a lot. I've tried ONE other Kenyan tea previously but it was harsh-tasting-- almost bitter. Consequently, I went with 180/2 the first time around. Next time I made a cup, I tried 180/3 which works equally as well as far as taste. To me this tea has a light mineral taste, not unlike a rock oolong from the Wuyi area of China. Very nice. AND, I love that it's low caff. I don't have enough actual Camellia sinensis in the low caff category-- more herbals/tisanes and a few select white teas.

Warm and relaxing!

This purple tea has great nutty and chocolate flavors! Slightly more vegtable than floral. The only reason I'm not rating this a 5, is that the flavor was a bit weak and requires a bit more leaf than I would use on average.
